VP-45 Association 2008 REUNION - Jacksonville FL (September 24-28) at the Riverfront Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Help us advertise our reunion. Spread the word to people you know and place local ads if you live in an area that is heavily populated with VP-45 veterans.

Mates,

Doris and I have been looking at the information on the 2008 Reunion.

It looks real good and attractive. I also talked with my personal advisor (who is one of the persons planning the Italy Conference in Oct-Nov 2008) from our Christian Community and he encourages us to attend. I also believe that as we get older, we need to spend as much quality time with each other building our relationships as we can.

Doris and I are planning to attend the reunion - Fly in on Wednesday, September 24 and fly back on Monday, September 29. Right now flights are very inexpensive. Since Event A involves extensive walking we are thinking of not doing it but rather remaining at the hotel on Thursday, September 25 and visit with anyone else not doing that tour. Doing Jacksonville Landing sounds like a good alternative for us. We would also do Event C on Friday, September 26 and learn about the St. Augustine History.

I want to encourage all of you to come to the reunion and bring your spouses. I would enjoy seeing and visiting with you all again.

My email addresses for Roy Mulcahy, Ken King, Doug Marr and Dennis Trampe don't seem to be working. If you know how to get hold of them please encourage them to come to the reunion. We spent a lot of time with the Mulcahy's and Marr's at the last reunion and enjoyed their company.

Gene Martinez

My wife and I plan to attend the Jacksonville reunion in September.  See you there!

Commander William Hobgood invites you to join him at Navy.TogetherWeServed.com (NTWS) - a one of a kind, feature rich website specially created to provide Sailors of all eras the opportunity to not only locate Shipmates from the past, but also to provide a unique venue to enjoy the camaraderie of others who served through the sharing of memories and photographs.

He writes: Hey Fellow VP-45 Pelican! I joined this site a few days ago and have been able to locate a number of long lost shipmates. It is very much like a military (and mature) version of My Space and Facebook without all the silliness. Its free to join and I have found it quite entertaining....but then, I guess, I'm easily entertained. There are already two or three hundred former VP-45 guys on board (and over 300,000 other shipmates)! Give it a look and let me know if you like it.

Best, Bill Hobgood

NTWS has already over 280,000 current and former serving Navy Members which has allowed many Members to reconnect with others with whom they serve.

NTWS has no public access and only those who served in the United States Navy are eligible to come aboard. Joining is completely free and enables you to create your own personal Navy Service profile page including the voluntary posting of your Training Schools, the Ships or Shore Stations you were assigned to, the Combat Missions you participated in and even the Medals, Insignia and Breast Badges you were awarded in a very attractive and accurate format.

To complete your Membership, follow the link below. You are under no obligation to remain a Member of Navy.TogetherWeServed.com and you may cancel at any time.

Along with a colleague, I am writing a book about the history of aviation in Bermuda. This project has been in preparation for several years and we hope to finish it within a year. I am requesting that if any of your members have information or photos to contribute to the book to please contact me. I would also like to know if any of your members has information/photos of the US Navy Flying Club at the NOB in Bermuda. They had two Luscombe floatplanes in the late 1950s. Many thanks, Tom Singfield, 25 Chennells Way, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 5TW, UK; tom@singfield.freeserve.co.uk.
